Self-isolation: Preventing Loneliness, Boredom & Cabin Fever!
I never thought Brexit would lose its spot on front page news, but here were are. Some individuals are used to being indoors for prolonged periods of time, but many are at risk of loneliness, intense boredom and cabin fever. Although the Coronavirus causes physical suffering, we need to think about our mental wellbeing as well. Of course, individuals who contract the virus will be concentrating on recovery, so these issues will be the least of their worries, but how can the rest of us cope during lockdown for weeks on end?

The Loneliness of Humankind | Part 4
Westerners have taken this seriously, and at a macro level. Their health community has even a set of standards for the Lonely Scale; the former US General Physician did declare a "loneliness pandemic"; insomuch as the UK has so far got a Lonely Minister. The media have since been contemplative about loneliness. Studies have as well examined its impacts on personal health and the status quo.

The Loneliness of Humankind | Part 3
3. Capitalism and loneliness Modern individualism is, to a certain extent, a byproduct of capitalism. Moving away from parents, out into one's apartment, and financial independence have piece by piece become a desirous goal that every 18-year-old craves so badly. It's been the milestone of maturity, and we at-all-costs thirst for, even when this might run us into nerve-racking and painful situations. After a few months of enjoying this solitude, we might either cherish or loathe it. Still, there's a point we come to realize that there's no way back.

Dealing With Being Unproductive
It's been around six weeks since I have been in isolation. Six weeks since most of my work moved to being from home, and some of it stopped happening at all. For the first couple of weeks, I really benefitted from a routine close to what my work hours usually are, busying myself with different tasks. However, as time has passed, I am finding it more and more difficult to keep this up. Gradually my motivation has depleted. I don't have the same drive internally and I don't feel as though what I'm doing is 'good enough.' This is why I am confronting how my need for productivity might not be as helpful as I thought it was.

From Coping to Thriving: Shifting the Pandemic Battle Plan
"There's no turning back!" I can still picture it. One of our teens, about to leap off the slate diving rock into the backyard pool. A split second after the leap, the midair yelp: "No turning ba-ack!"… and then the splash, the ripples, the pause and the re-surface. Wet!

Mental health and lockdown
For some of us, being in lockdown, unable to go to work if you have been made redundant or recently furloughed is very difficult. Humans are species of habit, therefore when our daily routine gets snatched from us abruptly, it’s very easy to fall down the slippery slope of despair. This loss of routine can leave us feeling out of touch with our friends, colleagues and loved ones. Leaving us trapped in our own thought processes and emotions. It can be extremely difficult to lift yourself up when you’re no longer surrounded by that work colleague that made you laugh or a loved one who made you feel incredible.
