How Do We Cope With Worry
If it can be solved, theres no need to worry, and if it can’t be solved, worry is of no use.” ~ Dalai Lama XIV We are all in various states of ‘worry’ at the moment. Longman’s Dictionary defines worry as “unhappy because you keep thinking about a problem or about something bad that might happen”. I think this is just about spot-on. We are thinking about Covid-19 all the time and that something bad is going to happen to us, to our loved ones, and to the community we live, even the world.

Tips for Being More Confident
There are any number of things that can make us feel less confident with ourselves. Perhaps it was a cruel word spoken by a friend or family member. Maybe you haven't spent enough time over the years on your own needs and you don't recognize yourself anymore. Accidentally Minimalist. Top Story - April 2020.
The first time I ever heard about minimalism was from the Netflix Documentary Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things. I stumbled upon it one day when I couldn’t find anything else to watch, and I was intrigued; the concept was completely new to me, and as soon as I finished watching it, I ran to my room to start the clean up of my life. As it turns out, trying to part with your things isn’t all that simple. I got caught up in sentimentality, guilt, and the feelings of “but what if I need it some day?”.

How Self-Awareness Changed My Life
Life is hard. Is life actually hard? Yes, it is. It sucks right now. Or is this just how I feel? Ugh. Why do I feel like this? Where are these thoughts coming from? These were the thoughts I had in my mind. Honestly, I am usually an upbeat, happy, and friendly person. Even the happiest people feel sad or go through a ray of different emotions too. It’s what makes us vulnerable, alive, and frankly human. With everything going on in the world right now it is okay to question things- even your life. As a matter of fact, I encourage it. Sit with yourself and see what your mind, heart, and soul are trying to tell you.

Brainstorms V - stress and mental health
Today, we are continuing with the topic of stress. But, as we discussed in my previous post, stress isn't an innocuous feeling. Sure, it can be helpful to get by in a tricky situation. However, stress changes our brain (remember the hippocampus?) and it affects our capacity to think and remember things. And if it changes how we think, can it change who we are? This question is enough to start a philosophical discussion that can take us several posts. What really makes us who we are? Is our identity fluid or fixed? Can we change all our personality traits, or are there some that are fixed? Can external factors (like stress) change who we are? Can a psychiatric disorder change who we are? Now you have something to talk about with that intense friend of yours; you're welcome.
